Tiffany family

Hi, I'm looking for information about my Tiffany family who settled in Seward County.  Ezekiel Tiffany was born in Lansingville, Delaware County NY in 1810 and married Nancy McIntyre born 1816, about 1838.  They had children Mary Estes Tiffany ( married Asa G. Bogart), Pheson Tiffany, (married James Reed), Martha G. Tiffany, (married Anson Thornton), Homer,( married Hattie Griffin) Harriet, (married Jacob C. Kauble), and Robert.  I think his wife was named Mary, but have no other information about him.   In the 1880 census, Ezekiel and Nancy lived in Seward next door to their daughter, Mary Bogart.  According to Elta Bogart Metcalfe, Mary and Asa's daughter, Nancy is buried in the Anderson cemetery and Ezekiel is buried somewhere in Iowa. (?).  Any information about these families most welcome.  Thank you. Cali

Hi Cali Mills,

Harriet Tiffany (AKA "Hattie," born 1851 in NY) married Jacob C Kauble 17 May 1870
They went to [1870] Cass, NE; [1880] Beaver City, Furnas, NE; [1910] Nez Perce ID
Children = Addie F (born about 1870); Mary L (born about 1873); more?
Jacob C Kauble died 23 Sep 1918 (age 74) in Gem ID
"Hattie" shows up on CA voters lists: 1920-1924 San Joaquin; 1926-1934 LA, (?1922-1944)Calveras, 1944 San Joaquin, 1944-1954 LA.

I believe I am related to Jacob C Kauble.
Jake C Kauble (born 1 Nov 1889 in Beaver City, Furnas, NE); [1910] Nez Perce ID; then Oregon
Jake had four children: Cleo, "Stub"(Elwyn-my grandfather), Marjorie, "Curley"(Andy).
"Stub" --> Roger Kauble (my father) --> Risa Kauble.

Likewise, any information about the Kauble Family, Tiffany Family, and McIntyre Family would be very welcomed.

RISA KAUBLE

Hi Risa, Nice to hear from you. My grandfather was Francis Edwin Tiffany, son of Alonzo Tiffany and Janette McIntyre. He visited Nebraska during the winter of 1888. I have letters written to him from various family members including Jacob Kauble. I have some information on Tiffanys & McIntyres, what would you like to know? I know that grandpa's Uncle Ezekiel and his wife Nancy McIntyre didn't live together at the end of their lives and I understand they are not buried in the same cemetery. Ezekiel and Nancy had children Mary, born 1838, who married Asa G. Bogart. They had 2 daughters, Una and Elta. Pheson (f) born 1841, Martha G. born 1844 and married Anson Thornton, Homer, born 1847, married Harriett _____ had son Albert born 1874 and son Charles born 1877. In 1880 they were living in Mona, Ford, Illinois. Harriet, born 1850, married Jacob C. Kauble, and Robert, born 1855 married to Martha_____. The McIntyres, as far as I have been able to discover came from Ireland. William McIntyre born 1711 in County Donegal, married 31 July 1736 to Sarah Ely, died 20 Jan 1777 at Feeding Hills, MA. He had a son named Jesse born 1739 at Feeding Hills, died 14 Apr. 1826. He was a major in the Mass. militia. Jesse was married to Abigail Flowers, who was born 17 July 1737 in Wethersfield, CT. His son Ely, was born 1 Jan 1761 at Feeding Hills, married 16 Mar 1783 possibly at West Springfield, Mass. , to Diana Robinson, born 1762 in Granville, Mass. She died in Nov. of 1810 in Delhi, Delaware Co. NY. Ely died 10 Mar 1810 at Delhi, Delaware County, NY. His son, Eli, was born 29 Apr. 1798 in Hamden, Delaware Co.NY. He married 31 Mar. 1824 to Lydia Noble. He died 2 Apr. 1845. He was the youngest drummer boy to serve in the war of 1812 and received a pension in his old age for his service. I have his service record if you'd like a copy. Snail mail, I don't have a scanner. Ely had children Orson, Fezon (m. John Allaben), Clarimond, Abigail, Sarah(m. Contine Connolly), Jesse, Diana, Ely Jr(married Lydia Horton)., Leicester, Harriet, Malantha,(married Ichabod Kellogg) and Mary.(married Seth Noble) My great grandmother was a daughter of Eli and Lydia, as I believe Nancy, who married Ezekiel, was. Confused yet? If you have any info on Ezekiel and Nancy, I'd love to hear. Keep in touch! Cali

You got off to a m uch better start than I did. I've been doing this 20 years and can't get past my great grandfather on my mother's side. I would be happy to send you the copy of Eli's military file and whatever else I can find. The letters are too fragile to copy. They've been in my aunt's attic in a trunk since they were written. She will be 95 in 3 weeks and they were written to her father. I can send you a photo of him if you'd like. If you are just getting started I have 1 key research tip for you. No matter what you find or where you find it, keep a log. I have some things from early on in my research and at this point I have no idea where I found them. Frustrating! And also, be aware...genealogy is a hobby, passtime, whatever you want to call it, that is highly addicting. Even after 20 years I am working on something or another every single day. Best of luck and will keep in touch. It's great to find cousins I didn't know I had! Cali

Tiffany & Kauble families

Hello Cali,

Jake-C Kauble[b.1889] {my great-grandfather who died when I was age 3, and the oldest paternal-relative I can personally remember} was my initial pick to research; then when I discovered his grandfather, John-Johann Kauble [b.1765], I chose to do a descendant-down collection from John-Johann... which was good, because he's either 2nd or late-1st generation from the (oral history) "Two Brothers who came here [indirectly?] from Germany" and about one-third of all the Kaubles&theirSpouses&theirChildren I come across are related to him.

Cali, I have a puzzle (no urgency)
How did Nancy's daughter Mary Estes Bogart (Tiffany) get her "Estes" name?
I ask this because two of Nancy's granddaughters marry into the Estes family {obviously after Mary Estes Tiffany was born}. Mary-L Kauble married Robert-Lee Estes; Minnie-Melissa Kauble married Giles-Raymond Estes. Were the Estes and Tiffany families inter-acting and/or marrying in the preceding generations?

Second Topic.
I haven't yet found direct proof that Jake-C is actually the son of Jacob-C Kauble[b.1844]. Jacob-C has his first kids that I've found when he's age 28-31, then a gap of time, when Jacob-C is age 45 then Jake-C appears... enough time theoretically for a grandfather-grandchild relationship. Born in Beaver City, Furnas NE, Jake-C's progression of moves match the other Kaubles <-- there probably isn't many Kauble families in each region they live.
Letters.
Alonzo Tiffany visited Nebraska a full year before the birth of Jake-C[1st Nov 1889]. Is there anything in those later letters do you remember about ... surprise! a new baby boy... Jake-C, son of Jacob-C?

Cratzer/Cratzier--Kratzer.
Jacob-C and his sister Marietta's parent's were David Kauble[b.1800] and Mary Kauble (Kratzer)[b.abt.1806]. David died in Andrew MO when Jacob-C was age 4. Since David, there's been only one son in each generation or one son who has had children; my father and grandfather have passed away quite awhile ago  [[ I'm the last of my line ]]. David had many brothers including Alexander who married Lorana Kratzer (Mary's sister). Two brothers marrying two sisters, sound familiar? [Like Alonzo+Janette & Ezekiel+Nancy].  One note I have is that another genealogy-hobbiest has young Jake-C's middle name as: "Cratzer." <-- really-really close to "Kratzer."

In my "Lost Kaubles" file {'Lost' because I don't know how they relate, yet!}, Polly Kauble (Cratzer/Cratzier)[b.abt.1816, ten years later than Mary] is married to a David Kauble... "David" and "John" and "Jacob" are prevalent given names with Kaubles... I presumed David to be another David/cousin, I don't have their geography and movements, not much pre- info on Polly to be found. Polly & David had many children, their youngest being Jacob-K born within one or two years of when my relative Jacob-C was born.  Note: in that era "Polly" was a common nick-name for Mary, however Lorana&Mary's Kratzer-family had many children, none named Polly. I wonder maybe the two Davids are the same, marrying twice(Polly) then (Mary); maybe Polly and Mary are the same person with a widely estimated birth year {between 1806-1816} and only one marriage to one David. If so, then a whole branch of "Lost Kaubles" can be "Found" <--not only that, but these would be closer relatives to me than any of the other John-Johann Kauble descendants I've been researching!

Cali, did you know: Jacob-C Kauble and Harriet Tiffany were married in the Netherlands! I can imagine a very romantic honeymoon, and that they were fairly well-to-do by 1870.

Eventually I'll start another genealogical project where I'll look into all my progenitors including Harriet Kauble (Tiffany)<= Ezekiel & Nancy <=Ely.Jr & Lydia(Horton) <=Eli & Lydia(Noble)<=Ely & Diana(Robinson) <=Jesse & Abigail(Flowers) <=William & Sarah (Ely) McIntyre. {Is that not a typo? The middle Eli & Lydia(Noble), Eli spelled with "I" not "Y."?} And yes, Cali, your information is most welcome, anytime! Thank You, Thank-You.! Only,... I'm working on that descendant-down tree at present and I want to keep my focus there or else I'll be chasing so many things the "addiction" would become all-consuming. Good news I keep in the back of my mind is that I have a very old great aunt school teacher {my mother's mother's sister} who has traced my mother's side of the family, so hopefully I can interview her or inherit her notes at some point... this relieves me of trying to seek out everything all at once.

Happy Aunt's 95th Birthday, to you. Which reminds me, my Mom's (69th?) birthday is in 4 weeks, May 27th; many in her family-line lived 'till about age 100+/-. Incidently, most of my paternal-line married late and/or the men had kids when they were ages 40-45+.  Hmm. All this "genealogy" this month, maybe it is in preparation? substitution? of finding a husband and having children of my own {before I'm too old} Ha-ha.

Elder Tiffany & Kauble members

For Cali and those who want to know:

1] Mr."Unknown" Tiffany, born about 1557, Yorkshire County, England
2] Henry Tiffany (Sr?) b.1577
3] Henry Tiffany (Jr?) b.21 Aug 1603 St.John, Hackney, Middlesex, London, England.
4] Humphrey Tiffany,  probably crossed to the Americas
5] Ephraim Tiffany b.26 Dec 1677 Milton, Norfolk County, Massachusets USA
6] Mr.C Tiffany (Sr.) Connecticut USA. Died age 40, same day as his spouse.
7] Samuel Tiffany (Sr.) b.13 Jul 1740 Lyme Station, New London County, Connecticut USA
8] Samuel Tiffany (Jr.) b.21 Oct 1761
9] Ezekiel Tiffany b.1810 Hamden, Delaware County, New York USA

While living in Nebraska, Ezekiel's daughter Harriet-Anthony Tiffany, "Hattie" (met?) then married Jacob-C Kauble. Their ceremony took place on 17 May 1870, perhaps on a European honeymoon,... in Lancaster, The Netherlands.
Their youngest child (of four children) "Jake"Cratzer Kauble[b.1889] was my great-grandfather and the eldest Kauble I remember meeting when I was small. "Cratzer," or Kratzer, is the maiden name of his grandmother, Mary"Polly" Kratzer Kauble. Jake was born in Nebraska, moved his own bride and  family (of four children) to Idaho, and then later lived in Oregon and Northern California. About 1930, Jake's oldest son visited our Kauble-cousins in Hawaii. 1970 I remember a story about Two Kauble brothers crossing to America in 1750...this turned out to be not correct, but the story of a Different Kauble family who had been visiting with ours.
Hattie's brothers = Homer Tiffany(born in New York) married while in Seward County Nebraska then moved to Illinois, while Robert-H Tiffany either returned or stayed in New York. Hattie's Sisters = Mary married Mr.Bogart[see previous posts]; Martha married Mr.Thornton and was survived by 49grand & 23 great-grandchildren at her funeral, a day before her 84th birthday.
As Hattie & Jacob's great-great-grand-daughter I have reached an lived in Oregon all my life [except a brief stay in New York-Connecticut area]...It is the end of their Oregon Trail. And my Beginning.
