I'm researching my GUTHMANN line family genealogy. I know Frederick Franz GUTHMANN(aka F. F. Guthmann) and his wife Sophia (nee FINKE) lived in Seward with their children Katherine, Lydia, Augusta, Fred W.C., Helen (later COMPTON) and Clara (later HAUCK).
F.F. GUTHMANN was a businessman who had a bakery/confectionary and grocery on the courthouse square. In 1885, together with Aug HEUMANN, he built a building that was located on the east side of the square. It was demolished when Cattle National Bank rennovated and expanded its offices. I understand that he later purchased the restaurant of C.M. MOFFITT in the MCKILLIP block as well. Frederick GUTHMANN died in January 1893.
I am interested in any and all information on the GUTHMANNs in Seward. Please feel free to contact me directly at sguthmann@juno.com. Thank you!
