STEPHENS / OVERSTAKE

I'm researching the family of Jefferson STEPHENS, who bought land in Seward Co. in February 1871, was killed in a wagon accident on about June 29, 1871, and is buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  His widow, Elizabeth J. HARRY or HANEY, died Sept. 15, 1895, and who is also buried in Mt. Pleasant.  Of their 10 or more children, the ones who remained who remained in Seward Co. were Mary J. (Mrs. Oren CULVER) b. abt. 1842; John A. STEPHENS b. abt. 1851; Jefferson C. STEPHENS b. abt. 1852; and Susan (Mrs. Luther HATCH) b. abt. 1857.

I am descended from Martin C. STEPHENS, b. abt. 1855, who married Cordelia E. OVERSTAKE (daughter of Henry and Melissa OVERSTAKE in Seward co. July 8, 1875.  They moved to Medicine Creek Twp., Furnas co., NE in abt. 1885, and on to Lebanon Twp., Red Willow co., NE in abt. 1890.

I'm interested in corresponding with others who have information on the Stephens family.  Thanks to research done for me by the Seward Co. Gen. Soc. I have additional info I'm willing to share.

Also - I am planning a research visit to NE the week of June 15.

I can be contacted by e-mail at nostars@wowway.com
